THE SATURDAY SURVEY / June 28th, 1965

Well, this time around, it only took them four weeks, but The Rolling Stones finally have their first US #1 Chart Hit as "Satisfaction" takes over the top spot.  (Back home in Jolly Ol' England, this would be their FOURTH chart-topper!)  #79 - #24 - #4 to #1 ... in four easy steps.  It remains one of their biggest hits of all-time ... and a truly iconic track.  (Who would have EVER believed, in June of 1965, that they'd STILL be going strong some sixty years later, releasing #1 albums and playing to sold-out stadiums all over the world!!!)

"Cara Mia" by Jay and the Americans (about as unlikely and unconventional hit possible for this same era of rock) leaps eleven spots to land at #11 ... while crooner Ronnie Dove is up thirteen places to #19 with his latest, "A Little Bit Of Heaven."

Meanwhile, Herman's Hermits have the top debut of the week as "I'm Henry The VIII, I Am" premiers at #23.  It's another sure-fire #1 Hit for the group ... and yet another song that wasn't released as a single back home in England!  (To this day, people continue to confuse Peter Noone and Mick Jagger ... ok, well, maybe not ... but Peter sure does an impressive Mick Jagger impression as part of his concert shows!)

Elvis is up fifteen spots with "(Such An) Easy Question" (which now sits at #30) ... while The Dave Clark Five sit just outside The Top 40 with their remake of "I Like It Like That" ... it comes in at #42 this week, up a dozen spots.

The Lettermen's vocal arrangement of "Theme from 'A Summer Place'" vaults to #50, a move of thirty spots, while Gary Lewis and the Playboys have another new tune on the charts with their remake of the old Brian Hyland B-Side, "Save Your Heart For Me."

And Cher's about to have her first solo hit as her version of the Bob Dylan tune "All I Really Want To Do" premiers at #84.  (It'll wind up doing head-to-head battle with The Byrds' cover version of this song ... and win!)
