I'm talking about a pilgrimage of Forgotten Hits Readers to The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame Museum in Cleveland ...
Now I won't lie to you ... we've tried this idea a couple of times before and it always fell thru due to a lack of serious commitment at the end.
But I'm thinking with proper planning and a set agenda, perhaps we can pull it off this time around.
(Hey, I'm going to go see the Paul McCartney and Wings Exhibit regardless ... and while I don't think for a minute that this alone would be enough to inspire others to join me ... even though there are a WHOLE lot of other things to see there as well ... dozens and dozens of other exhibits ... that's not what this is all about.)
This is about getting a group of us together ... "like souls" ... who have known each for years and years and years and yet, in most cases, have likely never actually met face to face ... so why not invite 40 - 400 of my closest friends while we're still around and actually able to attend??? And what better Music Institution to hold it at than The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame Museum?!?!?
(My God, just think of all the photo opps!!!)
Who knows ... even if you've always wanted to go but never been ... or it's been a while since you last toured The Rock Hall, maybe we can provide the opportunity and occasion to get enough of you to "buy in" and take this thing to the next step.
The weekend that I'm proposing is Father's Day Weekend ... or essentially June 19th, 20th and 21st. That's plenty of time to clear schedules and make plans to attend.
Figuring that the 19th will likely be the traveling day for most, we could potentially meet for drinks that night and then spend Saturday, the 20th, at The Museum after which we could all go out to dinner that evening. The 21st (Father's Day Sunday) will probably be the traveling home day for most but for those who have more time to spend in the area, have at it! (I checked and unfortunately The Cleveland Guardians don't have any home games that weekend ... but I'm sure there's still plenty of other cool stuff to do in the area.)
If we get enough people willing to commit, I can look into Group Sales Tickets to the Museum as well as a block of discounted rooms ... but I really can't do any of that until I get some feedback from you guys.
So, Dads, if you want to treat yourself to a Father's Day Weekend Excursion ... and Moms and Significant Others if you feel like a quick weekend jaunt may be just the thing you need to kick off your summer, please let me know. (Right now we still have plenty of time to plan - but trust me, that will go fast - so I really need to get some kind of a "seriously interested" head count by the end of the month.)
Lemme Know!!! (It'd be great to finally meet some of you for real!!!) kk
