Earlier today we got word that The Beach Boys had announced that they were officially cancelling their remaining, entire 2026 tour, effective immediately.
Immediate speculation pointed to Mike Love's poor health ... but there were also rumblings about poor ticket sales. As of 5 pm Chicago time, there wasn't anything posted on The Beach Boys' official website regarding this postponement ... and, as of 8:30 pm Chicago time, there STILL isn't any official announcement posted there ... but earlier today, this was found on John Stamos' social media site:
... and it was confirmed by a VERY reliable source.

In the meantime, it has since appeared in numerous places that The Beach Boys were cancelling all shows scheduled between July 23rd and September 3rd and were taking a short break to "recharge their batteries." (Again, this statement would most likely pertain to Mike Love.) They said that they would resume touring in September and that several of their missed dates would be rescheduled.
However, several of the venues have spoken up to say that, due to scheduling conflicts, they are considering these shows CANCELLED as they have no means to reschedule them due to other commitments and date conflicts.
Ironically, our main focus today in Forgotten Hits was on the upcoming tour of Al Jardine and The Pet Sounds Band. This unexpected Beach Boys announcement would seem to leave the playing field wide open for Al Jardine and The Pet Sounds Band in the scheme of summer touring and fun, fun, fun in the sun ... meaning that if you want to hear authentic Beach Boys music performed by one of the original members of the band, THESE are the guys to provide it! (Scroll down for upcoming concert dates) You won't hear Brian Wilson's music performed any better than what The Pet Sounds Band has to offer. Check them out while you still can.
