Top the Super Chart with "Yellow Submarine!"
(It went to #1 in both Cash Box and Record World ... but peaked at #2 in "The Music Bible." However, The Super Charts represent the most accurate consensus of ALL of the national chart information and, as such, it sits on top of OUR chart, too!)
The Supremes slip in right behind it at #2 ... odds are it'll be number one next week since it topped all three trades.
We don't see any BIG chart action until we get down to #14 where "Cherish" by The Association is up 22 big places.
"Black Is Black" by Los Bravos climbs up 16 spots to #32, "Cherry Cherry" is up 18 notches for Neil Diamond, and newcomers ? and the Mysterians have a genuine hit on their hands, first time out of the box, as "96 Tears" soars thirty spots to #43.
Other records making significant moves of note include "What Becomes Of The Broken Hearted" (#56 to #41), "Flamingo" (#68 to #42), "I've Got You Under My Skin' (#82 to #44), "Summer Wind" (#64 to #45), "Reach Out, I'll Be There" (#91 to #54), "Last Train To Clarksville (#75 to #55) and "I Really Don't Want To Know" (#84 to #61)

9/5/1966 - Jerry Lewis host the first Muscular Dystrophy Telethon. It will become a Labor Day Weekend Television institution.
It raised one million dollars its first year. Between 1966 and 2015, the telethon raised over two billion dollars.
