MONKEES MAGICAL MOMENTS (February, 1969)

58 years ago today, The Beatles made their first appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show.

Purely by coincidence, also appearing on the program that night was young Davy Jones, currently appearing on Broadway in the hit musical "Oliver."

Two years later, Davy would be portraying himself on the hit NBC Music / Comedy Series "The Monkees," along with fellow actors and bandmates Micky Dolenz, Michael Nesmith and Peter Tork.

The show, inspired by The Beatles' film "A Hard Day's Night," would catapult The Monkees to becoming the #1 Act on the Charts in 1967.  (Four #1 Albums and, counting their debut release from September of '66, Four #1 Singles as well.)
