August 27th, 1965

60 YEARS AGO TODAY:

8/27/65 – The Beatles finally meet Elvis Presley at his Bel-Air, California home.  It all seemed a bit anticlimactic, with Elvis even announcing that he would leave the room and go on off to bed if they didn’t start doing something!

Paul showed Elvis a few runs on a bass guitar he had lying around and although Ringo says he remembers jammin’ with Elvis, none of the others share this recollection.

Elvis DID have his jukebox playing Charlie Rich’s hit record “Mohair Sam” on repeat, so they got to hear THAT tune several times that day … but a strict “no pictures, no recordings” policy was in effect, so we really don’t have much to go on as to what else might have really happened down in The Jungle Room.

Also on 8/27, The Beatles attended a recording session for The Byrds prior to heading out to visit Elvis Presley at his mansion in Beverly Hills.

Also on 8/27, charismatic Forgotten Hits founder Kent Kotal turns 12

He'll grow up to meet many celebrities over the next sixty years ... like this one!
